Pet portrait
"Tummy tickle time"

A recently commissioned pet portrait.

I've loved painting this gorgeous little chihuahua, from the start I wanted to create a painting that was a little different from the rest.
I always paint my pet portraits ever so slightly looser than my usual style because to me pet portraits often look a bit old fashioned and kinda Christmas card ish (if you know what I mean) and I'm not a fan of that look, so for this little guy I wanted to make sure his portrait was uber contemporary.
I also wanted to keep my brushstrokes nice and spontaneous (not tight) in order to create a painting full of energy and vitality .

I hope his parents will cherish this painting for many many years to come.
